The definition of cute.
While this didn’t end up being a 5-star read as I had predicted, my little heart was so full after reading this. I loved the sweet and cheesy banter, the grumpy vs. sunshine romance and the general good vibes that put a smile on my face.
“I’m going to kill you…“ – if I could’ve slow clapped at a scene, it would’ve been this one.
This is a big title on BookTok so I would say that if you’re wanting to pick this up just because it’s hyped, wait. I went into this when I was in the mood for a light-hearted romance and it’s part of the reason why I enjoyed this so much. Is it the best rom-com ever written? No, but I can’t deny that I was completely charmed by these characters and their love story.
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

The right mix of sweet, steamy, and emotional, this was a wholesome read that I adored with my whole heart.

Quan and Anna were delightful leads and I enjoyed watching them fall for each other whilst dealing with their own trauma and insecurities. They seem to balance each other well and it quickly becomes apparent that their one-night stand is evolving into something more. I liked the way Quan accepted and supported Anna (especially in the wake of her diagnosis), how he was patient with her needs and in the end, how Anna was able to realise that making everyone else happy was destroying her own happiness – looking at you Priscilla.
- Hilarious quips, cute AF date nights, ‘almost’ moments and emotional breakdowns that had me in my feels
- Quan, Quan and more Quan.
- Anna leaning into the parts of herself she dulled down to please others.
- Relatable sex scenes that were funny, awkward and super sweet – honestly they were the best.
Note: this is book three in The Kiss Quotient series. While they are standalones, I would suggest reading them all because they’re amazing.
The Bellinger Sisters by Tessa Bailey (two books)

Any sea captains or fishermen out there?
These were the epitome of feel good for me and I couldn’t help but be swept up by the romance, the banter, the town and these sisters.

It Happened One Summer
Adorable, cheesy and steamy, this was everything I wanted and needed in a book.
Brendan is a broody sea captain with a heart of gold and Piper is an out of touch LA party girl who loves with her whole heart. Watching these two clash before falling in love was a delight and I liked how they helped each other realise they were worthy of a deep love.
Hook, Line and Sinker
I loved this from the prologue – the texts. Stop.
I’m not usually a fan of friends to lovers but Fox and Hannah had me in my feels. The way these two work to break down walls, communicate like champs and banter the way only two best friends can was so sweet. Fox has a dirty mouth which ofc, I loved, but it was Hannah helping Fox realise that he could be more that charmed me.
Also, the vinyl records. IYKYK.
If you have any romance recs, leave them in the comments.
Happy reading x
