4 Nicholas Sparks Books to Fall in Love With

Nicholas Sparks, the man that will make you cry, laugh, fall in love, and then cry again. Sparks is known for penning romance novels that feature epic love story’s while also dealing with themes of loss and heartbreak. He’s a master at what he does, and there’s a great comfort that comes from picking up one of his books.

Whether you’re looking to fall into a love story or you’re in need of a good cry, we’ve put together a list of our favourite Nicholas Sparks books that we think you should try.

The Notebook

“I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough..”

An absolute classic, The Notebook is probably Sparks most famous novel thanks to the film adaptation that honestly, broke our hearts. The story follows the lives of two young lovers, Noah and Allie, as they navigate the ups and downs of their relationship over the course of several decades. There are sweeping romantic gestures, frustrating miscommunications, and heartbreaking moments that make this truly a beautiful read.

A Walk to Remember

“It wasn’t that long, and it certainly wasn’t the kind of kiss you see in movies these days, but it was wonderful in its own way, and all I can remember about the moment is that when our lips touched, I knew the memory would last forever.”

Did anyone else have a major crush on Shane West? Just me. I read this after I saw the movie and they were just as wonderful as each other. The story follows Landon Carter, a student who falls in love with Jamie Sullivan, a ministers daughter who harbours a devastating secret. It’s about first love, finding yourself, loss, and the power of memory.

The Best of Me

“Because you aren’t just someone I loved back then. You were my best friend, my best self, and I can’t imagine giving that up again.” He hesitated searching for the right words. “You might not understand, but I gave you the best of me, and after you left, nothing was ever the same.”

This one made me ugly cry. It was so good. The book follows Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole, two high school sweethearts who reunite after 20 years apart. With unresolved feelings and complicated relationships (both past and present), the story explores themes of love, second chances and the power of forgiveness. It’s a well-balanced story with a touching resonance.

The Lucky One

“In the blink of an eye, something happens by chance – when you least expect it – sets you on a course that you never planned, into a future you never imagined.”

When the movie came out with Zac Efron…let me tell you my friends and I RAN to that cinema. Bless him. The book follows a U.S. Marine named Logan Thibault who finds a photograph of a young woman who he believes brings him good luck during his tours in Iraq. When he returns to the U.S., he heads to a small town in North Carolina where he meets and falls in love with Beth Green. What happens next is a complicated mix of love, loss, and hope.

Notable mentions

  • Dear John
  • The Last Song

This list could go on forever because honestly, most of what Nicholas Sparks writes is gold. Sure, they aren’t for everyone, but if you’re looking to immerse yourself in a story that balances emotion with romance, you can’t go wrong with one of his books.

Happy reading x
