If there is ever a time to get excited it’s at Christmas. While the urge to wear your ugly christmas sweater in the thirty degree heat is strong it’s probably not the best idea. However, there are so many other ways you can capture the Christmas spirit in your everyday look and by following these easy tips you will have a queue lined up for a smooch under the mistletoe in no time.
🎄 Use a gold highlighter
Applying a little gold highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones is going to instantly give you a sparkly glow. The gold is subtle enough to blend into your skin beautifully and when your face catches the sun in the right light you will give off a beautiful sparkle. For added shimmer, apply to underneath your eyebrow and just a dot on the tip of your nose. You will shine brighter than the star on top of the christmas tree.
🎄 Add a coloured eyeliner on top of your eyelids
I’m sure we all have the same coloured eyeliner in our makeup stash – charcoal black. But if there is ever a time when it’s acceptable to branch out and pick a new colour it is at Christmas. Swap your black liner for something with a little colour to spice up your look. Think rich reds or forest greens! A little goes a long way so you won’t need to add anything else onto your eyes to make them pop.
🎄 Bedazzle those fingernails
You can incorporate the Christmas feeling into your fingernails too – it’s not all about the makeup! Take a look in any department store this Christmas and you will be bombarded with ‘Christmas collections’ from nail polish brands. There will be sparkle, glitter and cheeky nail polish names (I have just purchased OPT Tinker, Thinker, Winker? from the nutcracker collection!).
🎄 Warm up those cheeks
Blusher is your best friend and if you’re lacking a little bit of sleep (who isn’t?!) then adding a bit of colour into your look on your cheeks is going to be exactly what you need. Opt for a subtle pink and apply in circular motions on the apple of your cheek to give a natural ‘I woke up like this’ kind-of look. Alternatively if you’re not a pink kinda gal, a soft peach colour looks just as beautiful.
🎄 Gloss those lips
Should your office crush catch you standing under the mistletoe you’re going to want your lips looking soft and kissable. Apply a little bit of a coloured lip gloss to your lips for a subtle hint of colour and to keep them hydrated during the heat.
