Auckland Pride Festival – celebrating our cultures, sexualities and gender identities

Auckland Pride Festival 2018 kicked off on Friday 2 February and celebrates through to Sunday 18 February, right across the Auckland region.

The Festival is New Zealand’s largest and loudest social and cultural programme of events for our Rainbow communities to come together and celebrate our unique mix of cultures, sexualities and gender identities in Aotearoa. In it’s 6th year the Festival will feature over 80 individual events – including local and international theatre and cabaret, comedy, dance, art exhibitions, live music, film and of course the Festival’s biggest and most high profile event, the Auckland Pride Parade will travel the length of Ponsonby Road on Saturday 17 February, followed by the PROUD closing party.

Auckland Pride Festival says “NZ stands strong as an island of relative stability and equality in a dark and stormy sea. The kaupapa/theme for Auckland Pride 2018 is Rainbow Warriors: Pride and Peace.”

While NZ stands strong LUSH Cosmetics NZ notes “New Zealand is leading the world in regards to many human rights issues, including support for the LGBTQIA+ community. However, there is still a long way to go towards equality which is why we will be working alongside grassroots charities and leading organisations in the continued pursuit of equality for all.”

LUSH is partnering with the Auckland Pride Festival for the first time in 2018 and their #LushPride 2018 campaign will throughout February share the experiences of their LGBTQIA+ Australian and New Zealand staff and “lend our voice to the empowerment and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community which we have long supported.” Check out those experiences>>> www.nz.lush.com/humans-of-lush
