Mocktail Recipes You Don’t Want To Pass Up!

While we all love a good cocktail, sometimes it’s nice to hit snooze on the booze and enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage instead.  But just because we’re staying sober, doesn’t mean we have to miss out on having a delicious (and fancy) drink!

If you’re out and about, it’s easy enough to order off the menu, but if you’re DIY-ing it at home, I encourage you to make it special, use your best glassware, and play around with garnishes.  After all, half the fun of a cocktail is all the fancy stuff that comes with it, right?

I’ve dabbled and played around with many mocktail recipes over the years, but here are a few of my favourites that I come back to again and again.  Feel free to tweak to your tastes – and come up with some great new names!

Cranberry Crush

What you’ll need:

  • Cranberry juice
  • Lemonade or soda water
  • Lime juice (fresh or from a bottle)
  • Ice
  • Mint leaves (optional)

Serve in a tall glass

Fill your glass ⅓ with cranberry juice and add 3-4 mint leaves.  Fill glass with ice cubes and use a spoon to gently “push” the ice cubes around so they crush the mint leaves and release some flavour and aroma.  Top up your glass with lemonade or soda water, then add a squirt of lime juice on top.

Ginger Lime Fizz

What you’ll need:

  • Ginger beer
  • Lemonade
  • Lime juice (fresh or from a bottle)
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge to garnish (optional)

Serve in a whiskey glass

Fill glass with ice.  Add equal parts ginger beer and lemonade, then squeeze lime juice on top.  Slide a lime wedge on the rim of your glass to garnish.

Cuddles On The Beach

What you’ll need:

  • Peach juice (or in a pinch you can blend up tinned peaches in juice, but it’ll give your drink a thicker consistency)
  • Cranberry juice
  • Grapefruit juice*
  • Raspberry cordial (optional)

Serve in a tall glass, hurricane glass or wine glass.

Pour in equal parts cranberry & grapefruit juice until your glass is approx ¾ full, then top with the peach juice.  Gently pour in about 15ml (1tbsp) of raspberry cordial over the back of a spoon to give a “sunrise”/gradient effect and add sweetness.

No-jito

What you’ll need:

  • 6-8 mint leaves
  • Lime juice
  • Soda water or lemonade
  • Ice

Serve in a tall glass

Add 30ml lime juice and the mint leaves to the glass, then add your ice cubes in on top.  Use a spoon to gently crush the leaves to release their flavour, then top up with the soda water or lemonade.

Virgin Strawberry Daquiri

What you’ll need:

  • 3 large strawberries, hulled
  • 2 tbsp white sugar + extra for garnish (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lime or lemon juice
  • ¾ c lemonade
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Extra strawberry or slice of lime to garnish (optional)

Serve in a margarita or martini glass

Pop all ingredients into a good blender and whizz together.  Add a touch of water if too thick.  Fill a saucer with water and a second saucer with sugar.  Turn serving glass upside down and dip rim into water then into glass to frost the rim. Pour in your virgin daiquiri, garnish with fruit if desired and enjoy!
