As much as I love the satisfaction of spending the afternoon making a delish meal, what I really need after a long day at work is something I can whip together in 30 minutes or less.

That’s where HuVa comes in.

As much as I love the satisfaction of spending the afternoon making a delish meal, what I really need after a long day at work is something I can whip together in 30 minutes or less.

That’s where HuVa comes in.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been whipping up dinners using HuVa, a range of plant-based meals that help you create easy, healthy and flavourful meals that trust me, you’ll love!

A great intro to plant-based eating, I can testify to how easy and tasty their recipes are – don’t be afraid to give them a go.

Who are HuVa?

New to the NZ market, the HuVa range offers Kiwis simple, delicious and nutritious dinners that everyone can enjoy.

The meals are enriched with protein and iron, contain natural ingredients and have been developed by nutritionists with nutrition and taste in mind. Feeding up to four people per pack, the HuVa range is an affordable entry-point to plant based eating.

Available in Coutndown stores nationwide, RRP $9.00.

As a soy protein, HuVa meals come in dry mixes so you simply have to combine with water and a few extra ingredients to create a delicious meal.

I’ve been lucky enough to life-test the entire range and while they were all tasty in their own way, two of the flavours have already been restocked in my pantry.

Chilli Con Carne

A staple in my family growing up, chilli con carne is something I have fond memories of eating as a child. Knowing the taste so well, I was a little skeptical as to whether this plant based alternative would offer the same bursts of flavour but it became clear from the smell of it cooking that I was in for a treat!

Easy to make, all you need is a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes, a 200g tin of red kidney beans (yum!) and a 125g tin of corn kernels to create an easy and filling meal. I served mine with a little brown rice and quinoa and sliced a little avocado on top.

The best part of this is the leftovers. I was able to have three dinners and two lunches off of the one pack so if you’re looking for value for money, you can’t go past the Chilli Con Carne.

San Choy Bau

Stop it with these flavours! My tastebuds went crazy from the first bite and out of all the recipes, this was the quickest to put together.

I had some family over on the weekend so I whipped these up for lunch and they went down a treat. While one person needed two or three bites to get used to the idea that he wasn’t eating meat, everyone complimented on how flavoursome the San Choy Bau mix was.

To complete this mix, all you need is some soy sauce, water and lettuce cups. We added some avocado, grated carrot and capsicum sticks to bulk ours up for the number of guests but this easily made enough to serve 4 adults. An easy meal option for when you’re short on time or energy, the Asian flavours in the San Choy Bau mix are just as good as the pork mince version you’ve had before.
