3 Ways to Achieve the Perfect Winged Eyeliner

It feels like with everything in life lately the motto is to just wing it – eyeliner included. The latest makeup trend to make beauty news is winged eyeliner. It can add the perfect amount of glam without being over the top and also pull together an entire look.

Sometimes though it can be a bit tricky to get the perfect wing. The eyeliner can feel the fear so you have to go in strong and with these three tricks you’re guaranteed not to fail.

Use a card

Grab a card out of your wallet. The chances are that if you’re getting ready for a night out you will have your purse handy. Take any sort of card and hold it in a diagonal from the outer corner of your eye. Use this just like you would a ruler and mark a diagonal line about a centimetre up. Simply remove the card and go over the remainder of your eyelid.

Tape

Tape is something very unusual to use to achieve the perfect wing however it works a treat. Cellotape works fine but something like medical tape is even better.

Place two strips in a sideways triangle shape and use the tape as a stencil to draw the lines and fill in. Gently remove the tape after you have drawn on your wing. This method is best done as the first thing you do when applying your makeup, as you risk removing some of your foundation with the tape if you’ve put foundation on first.

Join the dots

This method is exactly what it sounds like. Place dots along your eyelid and continue up towards your eyebrow. Once you’re happy with the lines and angles you have, gently go from one dot to the next connecting them. You won’t be able to tell that you even had dots on your eyelid once it’s all connected beautifully.

Practice makes perfect when it comes to getting that killer flick so don’t be afraid to try all of these methods to find the one that you are most comfortable with. You can always go in with concealer after you have done your wing and tidy it up so relax, practice and most importantly – have fun while doing it!
