Long Haul Flight Carry On Checklist

Are you heading off soon? Being the jetsetter you so obviously were born to be! Well I guess it is time to pack. No matter the flight time it can always be difficult to know what to pack in your carry-on. Light and efficient, well prepared, well we are here to let you know the best carry on checklist every traveler needs to know.

Whether you are checking in luggage or not there are a few things you should always have on your person as a passenger. These include Important travel documents like your passport, ID, boarding pass, insurance cards and credit cards that should always stay with you in your personal item. Pricey items like cameras, SD cards, and laptops as well as items you may want to have on-hand at your destination like umbrellas, change of clothes, a guidebook, and your itinerary should be stowed safely in your carry-on.

If you are only planning on taking a carry on as your only luggage get ready to tightly roll and pack!

  • Reusable water bottle

For any long-haul flight hydration is key. Taking a reusable water bottle on board not only ensures you’ll stay hydrated, but you’ll also be helping the planet while you’re at it.

  • Pack snacks

In-flight meals can be hot or miss so pack a few extra goodies with you. Happy belly = happy flyer.

  • A pen

This is the unlikely essential item you didn’t know you needed. With long haul destinations, it is highly likely that you’ll have to fill out a landing or immigration form before you enter.

  • A spare change of clothes

Having a spare change of clothes in your carry on is a non-negotiable for long haul flights. Whether your destination has different wether or you don’t want to be in the same clothes for hours on end.

  • Deodorant

The best way to stay sane on a flight is to stay as fresh as possible.

  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Keep yourself feeling nice and clean and back to your normal self (as much as is possible in economy class).

  • Lip balm

Aeroplane air conditioning will always get the best of your hydrated lips. Pack a small tube of lip balm to stop the chap and endless lip licking.

  • Moisturiser

Similar to bringing lip balm, having a small container of moisturiser on hand will keep your skin feeling normal and if anything a tiny bit hydrated!

  • Hand sanitizer

Long haul flights can wreak havoc on your body—the tiredness and drying conditions in combination with the fact planes aren’t the most sanitary places isn’t ideal.

  • Something to keep you warm

Planes get a bit chilly, so if you’re anything like me and don’t want to use a thin provided blanket, pack an extra hoodie or jumper with you to stay nice and comfortable.

  • Eye mask

Sleeping whilst in an upright position can prove to be a challenge, therefore having an eye mask is a handy tool that can make this challenge slightly easier.

  • Entertainment

Sometimes the inflight entertainment is amazing but many other times it just doesn’t hit the mark. Load up all your devices with plenty of movies, TV series’, games and the like to keep you entertained. Don’t forget to bring a charger with you as many flights offer USB ports or bring a portable charger!

What else do you pack for your long haul flights?
