The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale

Book our editor Sophie is reading

Soph has heard some mixed things about this book but one thing that the majority of people seem to be able to agree on is that this is a pretty well crafted mystery/thriller and that is all she needs to know.

Any woman who’s ever been involved with a bad, bad man and been dumped will understand what it feels like to be broken, broken-hearted and bent on revenge. Taylor Bishop is hurt, angry and wants to destroy Angus Hollingsworth in the way he destroyed her: Insidiously. Irreparably. Like a puzzle, he’d slowly dissembled … stolen a couple of pieces from, and then discarded, knowing that nobody would ever be able to put it back together ever again. So Taylor consulted The Art of War and made a plan. Then she took the next step – one that would change her life forever.

How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life by Lilly Singh

Book our editor Lilly is reading

We’ve heard only great things about the breakout book by this beauty and we’ll be honest, we can always use a little help to boost our confidence and make the most out of life. Lilly is looking forward to picking this up and getting shit done.

From actress, comedian, and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh (aka ||Superwoman||) comes the definitive guide to being a bawse—a person who exudes confidence, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently, and smiles genuinely because they’ve fought through it all and made it out the other side.

Rook by Sharon Cameron

Book I’m listening to thanks to Auckland libraries

This is a YA sci-fi/fantasy book that a friend of mine recently finished reading and won’t stop raving about it so I am caving and giving it a go. I’ve listened to about 15% of the book and so far it’s a pretty interesting read. Fingers crossed the story stays on path.

History has a way of repeating itself. In the Sunken City that was once Paris, all who oppose the new revolution are being put to the blade. Except for those who disappear from their prison cells, a red-tipped rook feather left in their place. Is the mysterious Red Rook a savior of the innocent or a criminal?

Meanwhile, across the sea in the Commonwealth, Sophia Bellamy’s arranged marriage to the wealthy René Hasard is the last chance to save her family from ruin. But when the search for the Red Rook comes straight to her doorstep, Sophia discovers that her fiancé is not all he seems. Which is only fair, because neither is she.

As the Red Rook grows bolder and the stakes grow higher, Sophia and René find themselves locked in a tantalizing game of cat and mouse.

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

Book I’m reading

Colleen Hoover is a contemporary romance Queen and I’ve devoured almost every book of hers I’ve ever read.

All Your Perfects looks like it’s set to be a beautiful and emotionally destructive read but I can’t wait to dive deep into this marriage and discover what I. already know are two deeply flawed and most likely highly relatable characters.

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
