Our fave audiobooks by the Queens of comedy

Like with most things, there aren’t enough hours in the day to conquer life, let alone fit in some reading which is why we love audiobooks.

If audiobooks are your go-to or you just need a little light-hearted banter in your life, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite audiobooks starring the Queens of comedy who candidly and hilariously throw down their life stories.

“That man hadn’t wanted to dance at first, and I made him, and then I booty popped him . . . and now he’s dead! I just felt like a booty assassin.”

If you aren’t on the Tiffany Haddish bandwagon then you need to jump on it. This girl is f’ing hilarious and boy has she lived some life.

Hands down, our new favourite memoir.

Tiffany Haddish is a ray of sunshine whose life has been full of all the best and worst things you can imagine. We really loved her honesty, raw accounts of horrible relationships and hearing about her journey to get where she is today.

Do yourself a favour and listen to this as an audiobook – it’s just as hilarious as you can imagine.

“Between the travel and the life changing circumstances, this book is my Eat, Pray, Love ,except it would be more accurately titled Drink, Drink, Drink.”

Mamrie Hart. YouTube sensation. Drink aficionado. Spirit animal.

If only we could all drink and travel as much as this babe and still manage to be successful.

Mamrie narrates in the same cheerful and quirky manner that she is known for and hilariously details the rise of her career and the downfall of her personal life in the process.

With a Backstreet Boys fan cruise thrown in the mix (why did we not know these were a thing?!), this sassy and confident spitfire makes you want to get out and enjoy life.

“I was born a cynical, suspicious, forty-five-year-old divorcée”

Absolutely delightful and laugh-out-loud hilarious, we want to drink copious amounts of wine and get matching best friend tattoos with Gabby.

She is very open and honest about her life and her family and we LOVED how happy and confidently she talked about her weight and insecurities.

Save your LOLs for a very in-depth discussion about her days as a phone sex operator and her on-going love affair with NSYNC.

If you don’t know her from anything but Precious, you’ll definitely know her after reading this.

“If you retain nothing else, always remember the most important rule of beauty, which is: who cares?”

Tina Fey is the queen of comedy – do you really need another reason to listen to this?

Bossypants is a culmination of all the wonderful things that we love about Tina. She hilariously self deprecates and self praises whilst telling her stories and there are multiple moments when we had to stop ourselves from breaking out our ugly laugh. You know that one that is only reserved for cackling with your bestie?

An absolute narrating star, a must listen for anyone who loves a boss lady.

“I will leave you with one last piece of advice, which is: If you’ve got it, flaunt it. And if you don’t got it? Flaunt it. ’Cause what are we even doing here if we’re not flaunting it?”

This was absolutely fantastic! Why Not Me? was relatable on a soulful level.

Have you ever watched The Mindy Project? If you have then you’ll probably understand why you would have to listen to her book instead of read it.

Full of hilarious stories about her life and work experiences to date, this book feels like a conversation between Mindy and the reader more than anything else. Love, love, love it.

“I had to find the courage to start saying no to things I didn’t want to do because once you turn thirty, pretending starts taking a toll on your immune system. I had to learn how to say no to others and yes to myself, and today I no longer feel ashamed for not being fun”

It is really interesting how many insecurities are lurking behind the most confident people.

This was a fab autobiography and we appreciated Whitney’s candour when discussing her relationships, her body struggles and her viewpoint of the world.

A bigger fan of her now because of this.
