2018 isn’t only going to be our best year yet, it is also shaping up to be an epic year for film and TV. Whether you’re an action star, a rom-com kind of girl or you’re partial to a Disney flick, we’ve put together a list of some of the biggest books hitting screens in 2018.

The Mercy, March 2018

Love, Simon, March 2018

Everyone deserves a great love story. But for Simon it’s complicated: no-one knows he’s gay and he doesn’t know who the anonymous classmate is that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, scary and life-changing. Based on Becky Albertalli’s Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda.

Red Sparrow, March 2018

Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton star in this kick ass thriller.

Ballerina Dominika Egorova is recruited to ‘Sparrow School’ a Russian intelligence service where she is forced to use her body as a weapon. But her first mission, targeting a CIA agent, threatens to unravel the security of both nations.

A Wrinkle in Time, April 2018

Oprah, Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon – sign us up! This new magical fantasy looks visually stunning and we can’t wait to throw all our money at it.

After the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him.

Mary Poppins Returns, December 2018

We can’t wait to relive our childhood in this Mary Poppins follow up starring the talented Emily Blunt.

In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Notable mentions:

Where’d You Go Bernadette, TBC 2018

The queen Cate Blanchett stars in this adaptation of Maria Semple’s mysterious novel. After her anxiety-ridden mother disappears, 15-year-old Bee does everything she can to track her down, discovering her troubled past in the process.

Dumplin’, TBC 2018

One of our favourite books from the witty Julie Murphy, we are hooked on Willowdean and can’t wait to see her bought to life.

A girl with the nickname “Dumplin'” enters a beauty pageant in order to win over the boy she likes and stick it to the other girls at school.

Sharp Objects, TBC 2018

Amy Adams leads the charge in this miniseries that we know will throw us a curve ball any chance it gets.

A reporter confronts the psychological demons from her past when she returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder.

Are you looking forward to seeing any of these adaptations?

I love to watch the movie and then read the book. Not sure why but I always enjoy doing this. I really looking forward to Red Sparrow. Might have to book that at the Library now.

I like to read and often find that movie adaptations often fall short of the book, but occasionally I am pleasantly surprised, I am very interested to see how these movies stack up against the books, I just need to read the books first…

This list gives me an idea to look for these books before the movie versions hit the cinema. One thing lacking in this list is Ready Player One. That book is the bomb! The movie better not fail me.

I am mostly looking forward to A Wrinkle in Time. I have read the book as well as the two that come after it. It was a really good book, and felt really Dr Who-ish especially the first one. I love how some of the creepier things have been captured just in the trailer. I can’t wait to see it!

I like the look of a wrinkle in time it looks mind twisting and will have you thinking what is going on. Love simon looks good too as this is becoming reality these days and people having to come out and reveal who they really are must be difficult. The mercy had me thinking does he make it or not in his boat looks like a great story line with his wife and children left at home hoping he’s ok sailing around the world in his home made boat.

Just saw the trailer for red sparrow this morning on YouTube and looks really good… I like Jennifer Lawrence she always seems to pick good movies so knowing she’s in it deff makes me want to see it. I also didn’t realise there was a new Mary Poppins coming out… Really enjoyed the first one so deff keen to see this one I just hope it isn’t like alot of squeals and sux. I did watch a really good movie this morning crook and cuddled up in couch aha…. The Giver on Netflix… Was very cool wasn’t expecting to like it as seemed abit Sci Fi ish but it was actually a good mix of Sci Fi, Thriller action..deff recommend people seeing it if can.

A wrinkle in time looks interesting with three great actresses and fantastic special effects.
