There are so many beautiful things about summer. Late night dips in the ocean, sand between our toes and endless amounts of ice cream is totally justified. It can be so easy to not even bother with makeup because of the heat but there are so many ways that you can make your makeup last throughout the day and bring out your inner beach babe.
Start with the sunscreen
I know that putting sunblock on your face is the last thing you think of when heading out with makeup on in this heat, but believe me it will be worth it. Using sunscreen as a base on not only your face but neck too will provide protection from the sunshine. It’s smooth enough to completely rub in and not affect the final look.
Opt for a BB cream
Foundations can typically be quite heavy in comparison to a BB cream which still gives you similar coverage but feels very lightweight. BB Cream, or blemish balm, contains moisturizer, foundation and a small amount of SPF in the one product.
Waterproof mascara
Waterproof mascara will be your best friend over summer. If your hayfever tends to get the better of you and your eyes look like you have been crying for days, then by using a waterproof mascara you don’t have to worry about having big giant panda eyes. By applying mascara in the morning it makes your eyes instantly pop and look more awake. It will make you feel better about yourself and looks totally natural too.
Make it matte
Applying lipstick is an easy way to add a bit of colour into your look or change it from day to night easily. By using a matte lipstick the colour will hold on your lips for a good few hours. The benefits of using a matte lipstick is that it doesn’t transfer onto anything. So wether you’re smooching someone else’s lips or your wine glass it’s not going to leave any evidence.
Set it in place
A good setting spray is going to be your secret weapon to keeping everything in place on your face and not melting like olaf in summer. There are certain sprays that will hold your makeup really well that when you’re cutting loose on the dance floor you won’t come out looking like Michael Jackson!
