Easy Decor – Brighten Up A Space With Plants

An easy addition to any room, plants not only brighten a space but those science gurus also claim that indoor plants can help boost your mood, reduce stress and encourage creativity – they’re natures gems. If you’re still working on your green thumb, here are some of our favourite plants that require little maintenance.

Moon cactus

A cactus is basically the best option for those of us lacking in the green-goddess department. An easy to care for plant that is great for small spaces, the moon cactus is a little plant that adds a bold pop of colour to any space. The best part – after about a year you don’t have to water it during the Winter months.

Bird-of-paradise

There’s a reason this guy has a reputation for being the biggest, baddest plant in the game – it is basically indestructible. Great for anyone whose a little mindless when it comes to caring for indoor plants, this plant looks great in a floor stand or sitting in the corner of a room in a stylised pot.

Succulent

Succulents are extremely popular right now – not only are they super cute, but you hardly have to water them at all, so they’re great for people who don’t want to spend a lot of time on their plants. They come in lots of different shapes and sizes, and are easily propagated (you can take cuttings and grow more plants!!). Mist occasionally with a spray bottle if you think they’re looking a little sad, otherwise remember that these wee guys come from the desert where it doesn’t rain – so they won’t need much!

Chinese evergreen

If you don’t get much sunlight in your place or you don’t have many windows then this is the plant for you. The Chinese evergreen can withstand anything you have going on at home and as a bonus, they don’t require much watering.

Aloe vera

Great for apartments and small enough to fit on a shelf, aloe vera plants need a sunny and warm place to grow. They’re also perfect for your health needs because if you’re skilled enough, you can cut of the leaves to help treat any burns, use it on your skin (goodbye expensive lotions) or even give it a try as a natural toothpaste (maybe Google the instructions on that one).
