It’s the holiday season, so there is no better time to have a party with all your friends! The sun is out, the dresses are on and you’re ready to have fun. So, we have a few party ideas you can incorporate into your festive calendar!
The first thing you need to think about is who is coming? Does everyone know each other? If not maybe start off with some icebreaker activities. Will there be kids there? If so, you need to make everything kid-friendly.
Now everyone loves a few games at a party, especially if they include prizes. These are a few cult classics that you can do with friends and family.
White Elephant
Everyone knows this game. Everyone brings one gift; it can be whatever they please. Everyone picks a number out of a hat and that is the order of choosing a gift. The first person opens a wrapped gift, and the turn ends. Everyone takes a turn and each person has the choice to either unwrap a new present or to steal another’s. When a person’s gift is stolen, that person can either choose another wrapped gift to open or can steal from another player. To avoid never-ending circles, each gift can only be stolen once per turn. The game is over when everyone has a present.
Stocking Guessing Game
Surprise your guests with Christmas stockings full of odd objects and have them guess what is in the stocking. Players can feel the stocking but can’t look inside. After the game is over, let the winner with the most correct guesses keep the stocking!
Gift Wrap Relay
This game is all about speed and gifts. Host a gift wrap relay this holiday season by dividing your guests into two teams. You can then set aside two tables at opposite ends of the room with unwrapped gifts and wrapping paper supplies. Guests will then race one by one to their respective tables and wrap a gift as fast as possible. This game ends when the winning team finishes wrapping all of their gifts.
Candy Cane Relay
This is a festive Christmas game that involves only candy canes! Players are given one minute to use a candy cane to pick up as many candy canes from an individual bowl as possible. However, the catch is that they must use their mouth to hold the main candy cane. The player who collects the most candy canes before time is up wins.
Christmas Card Swap
Every person attending will bring an old photo of them as a child, in festive gear, or on Christmas. They are all dropped into a basket and later on, everyone picks one card out of the basket, and the first person to find whose baby picture it is wins! This game is a perfect icebreaker game!
If you are looking for something more mellow, you can always try some creative and fun games like:
- Cookie Decorating
- Gingerbread house decorating
- Christmas card crafts
- Christmas Movie Trivia
- Christmas themed bingo
Of course, we can’t give a list of ideas if we throw in a Christmas dinner party! Wine, cheese, a roast dinner, the whole shebang! You can twist up this idea by adding in some of the games mentioned before. Or you can theme your party! Whether that is a dress-up party, a potluck, or an anything but utensils party. Have fun with it! It’s the festive season after all!
How do you celebrate Christmas?
