Picking jeans for your body

Finding a pair of jeans that feel comfortable and make your booty look great can feel like you’re hunting for a needle in a haystack. We want you to look stylish and feel flawless whether you’re at a bar or going grocery shopping, so we’ve put together our ultimate guide to finding a pair of jeans that fit your body.

Do’s

  • Try on everything. Your body changes over the course of a year, so a style that might not have been yours last year may end up being your new fave
  • Jeans stretch, so get a pair that are snug in the waistband
  • Make sure there is no grab room in the crotch when you first try them on
  • Try the ripped look

Dont’s

  • Don’t try and go with a trend if it doesn’t make you feel comfortable or fit you well
  • Don’t buy a size up to hide your body as it can become less flattering
  • Don’t forget to think about your favourite tops when picking out a style
  • You don’t need a thigh gap, so don’t try hunting for a pair of jeans that give you one

Big booty

Be on the look out for:

For the most part, a bigger booty means bigger hips. If you are wanting to tone down your look, try going for a high-waisted look that will give your butt a lift and cinch in your waist.

Our top hacks:

  • If you love to have more room in your jeans, try a boyfriend cut that will stay loose around your butt
  • Darker washes and black jeans are flattering colours
  • Bigger pockets on the back will balance out the size of your booty

Small booty

Be on the look out for:

The key is to lift your booty and give your body more shape. There is nothing wrong with working with what your mama gave you, so whether you’re curvy or slim, look for mid-rise jeans that you can pair with a cute shirt to give your butt a perkier look.

Our top hacks:

  • Look for mid rise jeans that lift your butt
  • Avoid certain high waisted jeans that elongate your body but don’t add shape
  • Accessorise with boots and a leather jacket to give your overall look more volume
  • Jeans with patterns will also add a little shape to your rear

Athletic

Be on the look out for:

Usually an athletic girl can rock any type of clothes that she wants – you worked hard for that body! If you’re looking for some inspo, skinny and high rise jeans   are great for accentuating your shape.

Our top hacks:

  • Look for lighter wash jeans
  • Roll up the bottom cuff and pair with boots for a full look
  • If you have muscly thighs that you don’t want to accentuate, try a boyfriend cut

Curvy

Be on the look out for:

Whoever said curvy girls can’t wear skinny jeans just didn’t know what they were talking about. We love to rock a skinny cut, so if you do too, make sure you accentuate your top with a well balanced shirt.

Our top hacks:

  • Look for a darker wash that is more flattering on curvy figures
  • A cropped jean on our fellow tall girls can help accentuate your figure in all the right places
  • Bootcut jeans can help balance out your figure. They also give the illusion of long legs while slimming down the hips

Pear shaped

Be on the look out for:

You know we love a skinny jean on any shape, but if you feel like they don’t suit you, try a straight legged jean that slims at the bottom. Rocking a bigger booty too? Try looking for jeans with larger back pockets that help fill the area – small pockets will make your butt look wider than it is.

Our top hacks:

  • Pick a contoured cut that cinches at the waist
  • Bootlegs are flattering for pear shaped bodies
  • Draw attention to your top half with bold colours and patterns

I am a pear with a big booty ha ha. I do tend to go for high wasited pair, or boyfriend fit. I like a boot leg where possible as my thighs and calves are quite differently portioned. I dig the tip about big back pockets.

I love to wear jeans but I often find it hard to find a pair that fits my ‘mum tum’ without being really baggy everywhere else. It’s great when I find a nice pair with a bit of stretch to the fabric!

I love wearing jeans and basically wear them until worn out so I have to throw them out and buy another pair. I always end up trying on several pairs though to find the right fit and sizing as jeans seem to vary so much every time with different brands.

i love the look of jeans but never really find any I feel comfortable in, so great tips to try when looking for jeans for the more curvy big booty girl. I do like City Chic jeans I feel like they are made for big bums and tums. So with those tips ill be looking for some darker wash jeans either high waisted or boyfriend cut. Thanks for the tips!

I only own 1 pair of jeans haha. I am curvy with a small waist, bigger hips and thighs and decent butt! The jeans I own are higher waisted (so no muffin top lol), are dark wash and are stretch so really comfy. It’s just finding tops to match which is the hard part 🙂

I have found that although I am lighter than before I had my baby, my body shape has changed ever so slightly so it is a great reminder that whenever I shop for myself next, it is worth looking into different styles which may be better suited for my body at the moment.
