Attention oyster lovers! Round up the fam or gather the gals for a delightful day out at the must-see celebration of all things oyster hitting Matakana this October.
Popping up for one day only on Sunday October 6 – just a day trip away from the City of Sails – Oyster Festival Matakana promises a bevy of fantastical feasting, imbibing, and if you’re partial to ‘vitamin sea’, much slippery oyster slurping!
Situated at the picturesque waterside locale of The Farmer’s Daughter Omaha, this all-weather event is set to entertain the whole family with groovy live music, kids’ entertainment plus shucking competitions to accompany the tasty delights on offer!
Marking the premature end of sober October, indulge your well deserving taste buds in everything from local wines to the tasty wares of Matakana Smokehouse and of course, more Mahurangi oysters than you can shake a shell at! For those that aren’t partial to the slippery little bivalves there’s plenty of other tasty delicacies on offer with everyone from Sawmill Brewery to Double Dutch Fries joining the fun.
The local oyster farmers and foodie purveyors will be face to face with hungry punters on the day too so you can meet the movers and shuckers behind all that is on offer.
Whilst you sip local wines and slurp back oysters, the kids can also get amongst the holiday festivities with Pakiri School putting on an epic line up of activity – from flax weaving and kids’ yoga to a silent disco and flapjack making.
Boasting food and entertainment options for all ages and taste buds, it’s a no brainer way to spend a spring Sunday. Tickets are available for purchase here with more info available on the Oyster Festival website: https://oysterfestmatakana.co.nz/
We’ll see you there!
